Near Koko Crater
Oil on linen, mounted to panel
Collection of the artist
I include this painting because it has the quality of freshness
that I like, but also because it was such an experience for me
to paint. The location requires some effort to reach-only the fisherman
come down here, and somehow they do so at night.
The color of light and shadow, motion and wind, crusty smells
and surfaces; all of it came together for me in this small
painting.
The paint itself is rather broken, crusty, and built up in a
way I thought was tied to the place. |
